With all that information about phone controlled drones with camera coming to an end, it is time to wrap things up. Even though I’m clearly standing tall on the side of smartphone + RC controlled drones, don’t think that “smartphone only” models are useless. As you already had the chance to see, they’re all incredibly inexpensive (with the exception being DJI Spark which is sort of a hybrid between these 2 types). With that said, it’s only logical to expect they’re not going to be as “perfect” as those premium models from the second list. Both of them have unique uses.

If you add a little more money you get the UAVs that are a little bit bigger, and may have a cheap built in camera. They can be an awesome flying experience, and you can take some photos and shoot some video, but you cant expect great video. The flight time is usually quite short, around 10 minutes.

This is a fun drone to fly at any level, but the makers built it with the beginner firmly in mind. It has good elasticated plastic blade guards to help protect against those inevitable beginner crashes.

Two weeks ago I ordered the above drone received from Walmart, I think on October 16 or 17. I have limited experience flying drones, but I have done some in the past – one of our Grandson’s. I enjoyed his and since one of my neighbors has purchased and was enjoying flying his (he has nine), I went online to your website and chose the above unit and was directed to vendors and chose Walmart. I assembled the drone and it was quite nice. The next day, I charged the batteries and took it outside to fly on our driveway. It bounced considerably and moved into some trees and I retrieved the unit, I put it away and decided to fly it when I came off of the mountain. My wife suggested we take down to the farm and fly it in the pasture. Last Thursday, I did so. As soon as I hit the button it elevated and flew off. I tried to toggle it back to me, but no amount of my work changed the direction. I thought I had it once, but it climbed and went north. It went squirrely! I talked to my neighbor who has some of your equipment and he suggested I write to you and ask if there are defective units and if so if you consider replacing the unit. I still have the controller and one battery, but no drone. I am including my tracking statement from Walmart with applicable information. Thank you for your consideration,. sent email to symatoys this morning, waiting for reply.

The Wingsland S6 is also controlled by an App Controlled, with a number of fancy modes such as auto follow, flipping in the air, orbit, gesture control, and various automated flight modes, together with the very importance Comprehensive Obstacle Avoidance mode. Simply put, it is designed to stuff in your backpack and take on a hike! Or to take to the beach or even ski trip or something. It’s small,

Mavic’s vision positioning system includes paired GPS and GLONASS to give the quadcopter precise positioning both indoors and outdoors, and it comes with 8 more smart flight modes that make it easy for anyone to get expert quality shots:

If (like us at DronesBuy) you’re familiar with drones, you probably know what most of them are quite bulky in nature. Even the smallest drones which had been released up to last year (at least the ones which could take good pictures) were quite large. Even the DJI Phantom series, which was about the smallest of the good drones with great cameras required a special luggage or backpack to be carried around. Let alone the initial more expensive drones, such as the FreeFly Alta 8 and the DJI Inspire series – these required specialized cases and transport – and of course, that’s what drove such a niche as expert drone pilots.

The biggest con, however, is that you will no doubt drain the battery trying to figure it out the first time because the setup is a tad extensive. To avoid this, always set up the drone and get used to it fully before you go out into the field.

But, despite its ridiculous size, this drone has quite a lot of power underneath the hood. You see, it sports a powerful 1480mAh 11.4V 3S LiPo battery which can power it up to 15 minutes of active flying. While this is nowhere near, let’s say, DJI Mavic Pro’s performance, we are talking about an even smaller drone whose competitors are still nowhere near in terms of flight time.

On the other hand, there are models on this list that rely on both RC and smartphone controls. These types of drones are usually much more expensive than “smartphone only” models… but the price is a proper measurement for quality. You see, these types of drones use RC controllers for accurate tasks such as manual flying, aerial photography… and basically everything that includes human factor. On the other hand, these drones also come with dedicated apps that allow you to use more advanced (frequently fully autonomous) in-flight features. This includes various smart flight modes, GPS settings, telemetry and is generally very helpful in the long run, especially when you get accustomed to the app and you want to get the very best out of your drone.

One thing that I almost forgot to mention is its miniature HD camera. Interesting fact – it supports FPV but only up to 20 meters. If you think that’s low, operating range is just 30 meters which doesn’t breathe much confidence in its specifications.

Next up we have a brand new drone with camera that just hit the market. I am talking about none other than the new Holy Stone drone. It goes by the name HS100 and aims to deliver GPS-powered aerial photography option to the masses. It does cost quite a lot but has a lot to offer as well. Overall, the price/performance ratio is good although I’d like to see a slight price cut down the road. Anyways, let’s see what exactly are you going to get for this much money:

The EACHINE E50 is an excellent budget selfie drone. It does not perform well at distance but in close proximity, it is sufficient and an inexpensive way to get going with a drone and take some cool selfies or dronies. The charge time is quite long but the collapsible limbs make this a true pocket drone.

This is a neat and fun to use number that is cloaked in black, with a cool looking black and blue transmitter that mounts a smartphone on top for viewing. This drone has a lot of the same functions as the one we just reviewed, but the look is honestly quite a bit more modern.

As stated above, GeniusIdea is a highly innovative drone. First of all, we should put the focus on the building material. We are talking about a highly durable (and bendable) rubber-like material that can take quite a beating. It was not only used for making the drone’s body but for its propellers as well.

For those of who want a entry level drone that can lead you all the way from your first steps into drone piloting to semi-professional aerial photography, there are no better options than the outstanding MJX Bugs 3.

Mavic’s powerful camera shoots beautiful 4K videos and takes 12 megapixel still photos. The quadcopter has a flight time of 27 minutes and a control range of 7 kilometers. This gives you more than enough time and control distance to get your shots.

You may be able to find a few that get a bit lower than this, but the JJRC 2.4ghz RC Quadcopter pictured here is just $9.95. It is a very tiny quad that gives you about 5 minutes of flight time, and has a control distance of about 30m.

Now for that part that’s hard to swallow: Your phone. Airborne. Protected by little more than some hard plastic and a neoprene sleeve. Sounds like a recipe for disaster. I’m trying to envision myself launching my phone over a canyon or body of water.
