Verizon’s trials comes as AT&T (t) has also been testing using drones to enhance cellular network coverage. Its recent trials have used smaller drones to inspect tall cellular towers for maintenance and measure cellular signal quality across a large outdoor stadium. T-Mobile has also used drones for tower inspections and discussed possible Internet of things services.
The Breeze by Yuneec isn’t classified as a selfie drone, but it works just as well as one that is! At this time of writing, it’ll cost you around $500, which is pretty great for all that you’re getting.
Before I start, I should mention, once again, that the camera drones on this list are separated into 3 categories seen above. Feel free to click on the image and it will lead you to the chosen section. However, if you’re looking for a camera drone for kids, or indoor quadcopters with camera, you might find these articles helpful. So, without further adue, I’d like to get along with my personal favorites!
Just unpack and fly – it is often not that easy. It may take a few days for an untrained pilot to figure out how to control the drone, keep it stable in the air. A crash here and there is almost guaranteed in the first flight tests. So, keeping all this in mind, beginner models should be robust and not too expensive. In addition, you should make sure that you can easily find and buy spare parts, such as propellers (they are usually the first victims of those falls and crashes).
Introduced at CES 218, the new Uvify OOri is a mini drone that ignores the stereotypes of size, offering things previously only found in larger machines. In specific, we’ve never seen a drone this small that hovers so well, nor have we seen a drone this small that can fly as fast. In beginner mode, you’ll be safe to fly OOri in your living room, as you grow as a race pilot, you’ll be able to keep up with some serious machines. OOri is not headed to any professional race circuits, Uvify has the Draco and Warp 9 for that, but OOri can scoot along at over 50 mph.
Since their inception, smartphones have been confined to only two dimensions – limited to roam the earth at ground level. It’s time to set your smartphone free! Grant your smartphone access to the third dimension with PhoneDrone! The PhoneDrone is a remarkable device that gives your smartphone wings, allowing you to deploy your iPhone or Android phone as an autonomous aerial camera. Why is this revolutionary? We’ve leveraged the sensor, processor, and wireless capability of your smartphone. What you get is a powerful, cloud-connected aerial vehicle for a fraction of the cost of a typical drone.
What’s the point in getting a selfie drone if the camera sucks? Look for one that has a decent amount of flight time under its belt, one that is easily portable, and one that has a decent camera at the very least.
There is no doubt that the Q500 is the ultimate drone model coming from Yuneec’s factory of wonders. With a built-in professional-quality 4K camera that is able to record insanely high-quality aerial footage, it is pretty clear that this drone is meant only for people who know what they want from their drone.

This amazing drone occupies a small amount of space when folded… but in its full might, you’ll be witnessing a giant in every sense of that word. That’s primarily due to huge landing legs that fold separately from the motor arms.
The Elfie drone features a headless mode, a G-Sensor mode, a one key take-off function as well as a one key return function. These different functions allow you to control Elfie according to your preferences, move him around using the virtual joysticks on-screen or even by simply tilting your phone in the direction you wish to send him.
More advanced features include what they call a “G-sensor” mode which is basically a follow me mode that uses simpler technology to follow you around rather than photo and facial recognition found in the more advanced selfie drones.
So, if you’re not only looking for a good selfie drone but for a sophisticated aerial platform that can be used for various other things, then DJI Mavic Pro is defintiely an option worth looking into.
Another feature to note for the Raven is one touch take off and landing, which means the drone automatically hovers at a set altitude after take off and before landing. This makes it easy to control and maneuver, especially for beginners who are not yet skilled.
You can build one yourself! Of course, this requires a steeper learning curve, as you’ll be putting together, coding, and calibrating a number of pieces. Get out your soldering iron, and have that DIY support forum bookmarked, because you’ll need it.
For video selfies, there are not many better drones than AirDog ADII. Thanks to impressive speeds and sophisticated Follow Me modes (with plenty of advanced options which are not present with any other drone models on the market), ADII can be your sophisticated aerial selfie platform. To capture the best selfie, you will have to tamper around with a ton of settings. There’s no one-method-fits-all scenario when it comes to this drone so I am afraid you will have to keep adjusting the settings until you find the perfect one!
Whether that’s a good thing depends on who you ask, but from a consumer standpoint, it’s easy to see why such a passionate community has developed around these little machines. Their raison d’etre is aerial imaging — armed with YouTube and a GoPro, anyone can use a good drone to take sublime shots at angles that just aren’t possible any other way. With them, you can tell stories, gather research, or simply gawk at the world’s beauty. A smartphone camera and DSLR have their uses, but taking to the sky is its own kind of majestic. And even if amateur cinematography isn’t your thing, simply flying around is just pure fun.

The thing I like the most about the drone is that it has a Wi-Fi in so that I can connect my phone and see what is going on with the drone. The camera quality is good the drone is light and it is really easy to carry around
Now I’m going to tell you a bit more about its drawbacks. First of all, it is powered by a mere 850mAh LiPo battery which can power it up for roughly 8 to 10 minutes which is way below Spark’s numbers. Additionally, operating distance goes on for roughly 60-70 meters (in my own personal experience) even though the official specifications claim 100 meters. I’ve also got some bad news for all of you wanting to enjoy FPV with Kidcia’s quadcopter – video transmission range is only cca 20 meters which is way below my initial expectations…
The modular design makes it ready to fly right out of the box. The Amazon best-seller comes with a high capacity battery and remote control with up to 30-meter distance. It is recommended by Digital Trends, Gizmodo, and Tom’s Guide and has nearly 4,000 five-star reviews on Amazon.
If you’re learning to pilot a drone for the first time, it’s likely a good idea to start with something basic. You know, something you won’t shed tears over if you accidentally pilot your UAV into a wall or crash into the river. It’ll happen, folks. Trust us—we’ve been there!
The best way to learn more about the UAV industry is to pilot your own drone. You’ll gain an appreciation for how approachable these advanced aerial systems can be, and yes, while they’re difficult to master, they’re very easy to pick up. It’s kind of like snow skiing!
Watch this clip, recorded by the R1’s main camera, showing the drone following Mr. Bry. When he runs, it immediately follows him, ducking behind trees, speeding up to catch him, then slowing when he slows. Much of the rest of the clip goes like that; every step he takes, the R1 is watching him.
JJRC H49WH SOL features the so slim and lightweight design of the 0.95cm thin aircraft body with foldaway arms. Any beginner can pilot the UAV without difficulty by using the traditional transmitter or the easy-to-use App.
This is a question I hear all the time so I’d like to answer it here once and for all! Having a camera on your first drone is a nice extra touch but it is not necessary. What’s necessary for your first flying steps is learning the basics of actually flying a drone. So, no, paying extra for a camera on your first drone is a no-no.
– Although I didn’t show an example, the camera has a “beauty mode” that records two photos when a picture is snapped. The first photo is an uncorrected photo, and the second photo is an automatically enhanced photo. This feature seems to be intended to enhance indoor low light photos. However, outdoor sunny day enhanced photos look washed out. As such, the samples shown in the video are of the original uncorrected photos.
DJI Osmo. The FM-15 Flexi Microphone can be plugged into the Osmo’s external microphone input. The microphone is omnidirectional and comes with a flexible stem. FM-15 Flexi Microphone. Part No, 44. Signal-to-Noise Ratio 60 dBA.
The standard one will get you only the drone while the second one (also known as DJI Spark Fly More Combo) will get you a couple of awesome accessories including the dedicated DJI Spark controller. Additionally, you’ll also get an extra battery, prop guards, charging hub and a tiny shoulder bag for easier carrying (don’t confuse this with DJI Spark cases though, this is a mere carrying bag).
