The quadcopter’s visual positioning system allows it to sense its surroundings and make indoor flight more safe, and its GPS/GLONASS dual-satellite positioning ensures accuracy and safety during outdoor flights.
This is my first quadracopter purchase, so I didn’t know what to expect. So far, I’m very pleased. There’s a learning curve for the novice flyer. I planned use to inspect the roof, but have found many other more fun uses, such as chasing my kids through the house and yard, all while capturing the moments with the camera. The images are surprisingly stable and clear too. I just wish the battery life and strength where better. All in all, its good for the money!
More importantly, it is able to provide around 8 to 10 minutes of flight time. Even though that’s still cca 5 minutes less than Spark, it’s still a good number nevertheless. In terms of features, S6 boasts with GPS, omnidirectional obstacle avoidance system, cloud sharing, follow, auto return to home and several other autonomous flight options including, of course, selfie mode.
The culture of taking selfies that we live in has given us some awesome new toys – the selfie drones. Taking pictures using your smartphone isn’t always practical. You always seem to miss the best shots, and using a selfie stick isn’t any better either.
CCD sensors consume more power than CMOS, but they’re a lot more expensive to manufacture. This lead to the majority of small cameras (for example smartphone, tablet, laptop and so on) being CMOS and CCD only taking up a ridiculously small portion of the market. However, this does not mean CCD cameras are inferior in any way. At certain things (such as low light performance) CCD sensors are actually much better than their CMOS counterparts.
Let’s start off with its 4K ready camera which is, who would’ve guessed eh, mounted on a 3-axis gimbal for ultimate stabilization. State of art camera system is one of the top reasons why this drone is so popular among real estate agents with drones. Feature-wise, X-Star Premium incorporates dual navigation systems (both GPS and GLONASS), SecureFly magnetic interference protection system (patented by Autel Robotics) and Starpoint Positioning System. This all allows the drone to maintain a ridiculously steady hover when shooting videos. Combined with a great stabilization system, it’s no wonder X-Star Premium is considered one of the best aerial photography drones at the moment.
Now the technical stuff. The specs of the Hover Camera Passport drone are similar to those of the Dobby Selfie Drone; they both have a 13 MP camera that shoots 4K videos. However, the camera in the Passport Drone is meant for selfies and close up photos more than that of the Dobby, this is because of quite limited control range of 60 feet. Another similarity is that both are based on the Snapdragon chipset giving them great processing power to handle all the advanced features they both have.
At the moment, the best drone with a 720p camera is surely UDI 818Plus. This magnificent little drone with camera stands great across all departments and is portraying itself as one of the best value for money packages out there. And it really is true – for the money you will end up paying for this little bugger, it sure has a lot to offer. So, let’s skip wit the introduction and head straight to the reasons why you should go for UDI U818Plus!
If you are ready to splash out around $100 for your first ever easy to fly drone, then Holy Stone has a great one for you. Meet F181, a miniature drone with a sleek design and solid physical controller that reminds me of console-style gamepads. For such a cheap drone, this birdie really does have an abundance of features. Let’s check it out and see what exactly can it do!
Protective Universal Mount: We know (stuff) happens. That’s why we cradled the phone in a protective neoprene sheath that provides vibration isolation as well as the ultimate shock protection. It can even hold waterproof smartphone cases for some piece of mind over water.
If you want to get the best selfie game out of GI Follow, then your best method would be via the Selfie Mode. This will turn the drone towards you and you will be in the center of camera focus. Of course, to improve this scenario you can turn Facial Tracking on too. Even though some users have claimed this feature to be buggy at times if you manage to get it right I am positive it will provide you with a top tier selfie.
Now that you know everything there is to know about camera resolutions, it is time to take a look at the actual cameras. More precisely, a closer look at their sensors and the main 2 types that are available on the market. CMOS and CCD are their names, and today we are going to tell you more about them. Before going into details, I just want to let you in on a secret – CMOS technology is much newer, but it doesn’t mean it’s better than the good old CCD. For once, it is cheaper to mass product, but has several key differences (or should I say, limitations?) when compared to CCD. Let’s check them out and see what are the key differences.
Update: DJI has announced the new Mavic Pro Platinum, an iterative update to the Mavic Pro, but a powerful one. New flight controllers and updated propellers make for longer and quieter flights. Stay tuned for more on the new Mavic Pro Platinum as we go.
“Whilst you’re connected to the network, you can fly it anywhere … except for a little bit more latency, it’s not more difficult to fly it in Sydney from Melbourne. Once you can talk directly to the drones, you have to talk to it via the network, then it doesn’t really matter where in the network you pop it out.”
The 720p HD camera drone sells for less than $150 ( AU$179 or £100) that can live stream to your phone, capture photos or video to a microSD card and gives you the stability and safety of GPS. Its battery will get you around 10 minutes in the air and extras are about $8 each.

Other drones are more autonomous and have the ability to actively track you once you have selected yourself as the subject. It will then follow and record you or focus on you and then fly upwards and outwards, revealing where you are.
If you add a little more money you get the UAVs that are a little bit bigger, and may have a cheap built in camera. They can be an awesome flying experience, and you can take some photos and shoot some video, but you cant expect great video. The flight time is usually quite short, around 10 minutes.
This is another entry in the cheap quadcopter category. This model has throw-in-the-air startup capabilities, and a pretty cool searching light for flying in the dark. When it arrives it’s ready to fly after a full charge and getting the batteries ready, and the flight time is around 7 minutes after an hour-long charge.
Ideally, you want your drone to fit into your backpack or purse so that it’s as convenient to carry around as your smartphone. Drone manufacturers have done this by creating relatively small foldable drones, as well as mini drones.
You can get the drone in a couple different colors. There is a black and white version, but it is currently out of stock on many websites. The other version is a black and blue version. The drone itself only weighs 85 grams. And it is a very affordable price to purchase one of the 720X drones. Typically, they’re being sold for nearly $200. But right now, they have a special offer, single units are 50% off and you can pick them up for only $99. There is free delivery with the drones and there are only a limited number of them.
The Spark, a brand-new miniature by DJI has just been officially unveiled. Now, even though you still cannot buy it (UPDATE : you can order it now), it still deserves a special spot on this list just because it’s so damn awesome. It’s practically the size of a phablet and it fits into virtually all backpacks, handbags and even smallest purses. Is size the only thing the Spark excels at? Not by a long shot…
SAFE TO FLY with built-in Indoor Positioning System to allow Breeze to hold its position indoors and outdoors; the propeller protectors preventing them from coming into contact with other objects. Also, automatically returns to home and lands with the tap of a button.
This tiny quad is powered by an even tinier battery it’s a 1x 150 mAh battery now you will get about 7 to 8 minutes of flight time depending on how aggressively you fly it, however, it’s a good idea to get spare batteries just so you can go out and fly and have a little bit of fun.
Optical Flow Positioning: This sounds pretty fancy, and that’s because it is! Any good photo needs the camera to be steadied: the optical flow positioning is the FX-179’s way of doing that, letting you set a particular position for the drone, which will then stick to it perfectly. In layman’s terms the drone takes a snapshot of the ground underneath it so it has a reference point of where to go back to in case it starts to drift and gives it a much more stable hover than drones without this feature.
The built-in 720p camera is the real attraction, though. It’s not a good camera, naturally, but that it’s even there makes this a great value; taking any sort of aerial video, however grainy it may be, should be a fun (and instructive) time for newbies. That there’s a microSD card in the box only helps.
There is no doubt that the Q500 is the ultimate drone model coming from Yuneec’s factory of wonders. With a built-in professional-quality 4K camera that is able to record insanely high-quality aerial footage, it is pretty clear that this drone is meant only for people who know what they want from their drone.
Operating range (when paired up with its dedicated controller) goes up to approximately 2 kilometers which is miles (figuratively and realistically) ahead of similarly sized competition. Camera is breathtaking too. You’ll get a full HD sensor that incorporates an integrated 2-axis gimbal for stabilization purposes. Needless to say, the image quality is brilliant and will make up for great selfies (or even semiprofessional aerial photos) at any given time.
In addition to the great quality camera which is mounted on a stabilisation gimbal system, Upair One has several additional praiseworthy features. It includes headless mode, altitude hold, one key return home and a huge 7-inch display mounted on its dedicated controller.

Introduced at CES 218, the new Uvify OOri is a mini drone that ignores the stereotypes of size, offering things previously only found in larger machines. In specific, we’ve never seen a drone this small that hovers so well, nor have we seen a drone this small that can fly as fast. In beginner mode, you’ll be safe to fly OOri in your living room, as you grow as a race pilot, you’ll be able to keep up with some serious machines. OOri is not headed to any professional race circuits, Uvify has the Draco and Warp 9 for that, but OOri can scoot along at over 50 mph.
In addition to that, you should also make sure your first drone is not made out of cheap plastic materials. Since you’re a beginner, you will most likely end up crashing it a couple of times before you get the controlling scheme correct. In order to minimize the chances of breaking your drone during the very first crash, make sure it has prop guards and solid build quality to start with.
