When it comes to selfie drones, I’m sure you will agree with me when I say that the operating range isn’t of utmost importance. After all, most of the time you will be just trying to get the perfect angle with the drone being just a couple of meters away from you. That’s basically how aerial selfies are taken. So, if you are buying a drone strictly for the purpose of taking selfies, you should not be considered with the operating range.

You’re here because you’re ready to move away from the more basic drones. Either that or you want a higher quality craft to learn with. Beginner drones don’t have to be cheap but they must handle easy.

This is one of the more advanced selfie drones in terms of its selfie-taking ability. It has a camera capable of recording 4K video and on the side of the lens, you will find a LED light which can be activated via the app, making low-light selfies possible.

Yuneec is a company that we largely looked over until recently. A big mistake. They are a passionate group of pilots, like, real pilots, that are sharing their love of the air through drones. They have some impressive machines that utilize Intel technology for advanced flight systems, but they also have a smaller, almost toy-class unit that anyone can fly, the Breeze.

I suppose I must conclude, if you will never fly a different drone, or at least stick to drones that are as capable as the Mavic Pro or Phantom 4 and up, the Mavic Pro is a fantastic beginner’s drone. However, if you plan to try other drones, save the Mavic Pro until you’ve learned some basics of flight on a less flight-assisted machine.

Within the next few paragraphs, you will have the chance to read more about this flying selfie camera as well as general flight performance. So, without much further adue, let’0s see what does Wingsland S6 bring to the table!

If you would like to make money off your drone, then a good way of starting off would be freelancing. There are several big freelancing platforms that connect people who want to work with people who require workers. And it works in a fast manner too. In terms of drone-related jobs, you will basically be living the life of a professional photographer. That’s the most common drone-oriented professions. There are others as well, but let’s focus on aerial photographers.

FAA has rules you have to follow. The most important two: Never fly around or above people, and always keep your drone in sight. The FAA has a full list of safety guidelines for model aircraft that you should check before you take off. There are also restrictions on where you can fly: For example, within 5 miles of an airport is off limits. Mapbox provides a great interactive map of no-fly areas, and local RC (Remote Control) aircraft clubs may list fields that they use.

We learned to fly back in 2014 using a Hubsan H107L quadcopter, which are small, fairly easy to maneuver, and great for learning basic multirotor orientation. We’ve since bought many more drones, both large and small. Hubsan has a newer model out now with a 720 pixel HD camera (and FPV!) that’s been really fun to fly here in the office.

Simply put, all of the selfie drones and quadcopters we’ve mentioned here are a great choice. It’s what your budget is which makes the real difference, but you won’t regret getting any of these. Let us know how it goes in the comments below!

Next up we have the Blade Nano. We are talking about a micro-sized ready to fly drone with awesome firepower. It sports tiny brushed DC motors and works on 1S batteries. However, those tiny motors are rather powerful and, due to Nano’s featherweight design, it allows insane throttle and speeds. But, is this little birdie good beginner drone?

Before  I start splashing you down with numbers, you should know that Hover Camera is built specifically for selfies and nothing more than that. It cannot do any sort of exploration and the suggested maximum operating distance is 20 meters. More than enough for selfies but nowhere near any exploration capabilities. Furthermore, the flight time of this birdie goes from 8 to 10 minutes which is just below the standard. However, the package gets you 2 batteries which means you’ll have roughly 15 to 20 minutes of flight time with 1 pit stop.

The video quality from the built-in camera is nice but not excellent. However, the flight stability given by the six-axis flight technology means that your pictures are sharp and clean. Of course, the camera resolution might be better yet for the amount; it cannot argue.

This is a great choice for the cheap drone with camera category: It has features such as a return home function, HD camera, and the standard 6-axis gyro stability that helps many cheap drones fly with ease.

To learn more about the Phantom 3, check out our full DJI Phantom 3 value piece. For the Phantom 4, to be fair, it is superseded by the Phantom 4 Pro and Phantom 4 Advanced, but we’ve got all that Phantom info over here.

For its $499 sale price, the DJI Phantom 3 Standard is the best beginner quadcopter you’re going to find for the money. If and when the price jumps back to its original $799, the Standard will be a much tougher sell against DJI’s other excellent models as well as the mounting competition.

Whether you’re an aspiring aerial videographer, a land surveyor, construction site mapper, wildlife tracker, or simply an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) / drone hobbyist, let’s be honest—there are few greater things in life than owning your own drone. Right?

So, with everything stated above, the conclusion is basically coming on its own – with the massive popularity of selfies, it was just a matter of time before first selfie-oriented drones hit the market. And it did not take them a lot of time. First, there were those tiny toy-grade drones with awful cameras which were marketed like selfie drones. Then, there was an uprising on the market with the introduction of Zerotech Dobby, Yuneec Breeze, DJI Spark and so on… This revolution is still going on and it does not seem like it will end anytime soon, especially with talks of DJI Spark 2 hitting the shelves next year!

Unfortunately, there is not a single waterproof selfie drone out there. Actually, there might be a few of those toy-grade drones with cameras, but their sensors are awful and they’re not exactly made for selfies. So, yup… if you are looking for a waterproof selfie drone I am afraid you will not have any luck.

The Breeze 4K is a different proposition entirely. It’s aptly named as it couldn’t be easier to set up. You just fold out the four wings, install the Yuneec smartphone app and get started. In the air it is nippy, if not electric, and it’s really easy to pilot with the intuitive on-screen controls. Unlike the Parrot and DJI models, it doesn’t have a compatible joystick controller, but this is a relatively small drawback.

The drone chasing me, the R1, was created by a start-up called Skydio; it sells for $2,499 and will begin shipping to customers in two to three weeks, the company says. It is the closest thing to a fully autonomous drone you can buy today.

Experience the joy of flying with the winds at super speeds. This Wi-Fi enabled camera drone comes with live media and headless mode. You can enjoy the pleasures of cutting through the winds even from 100 meters away. You just have to charge the battery for 2 hours and have seamless fun with your kids.
