Like I said above, first we’ll give its camera a closer look. Holy Stone HS300 works with a bulky 5MPX camera. Obviously, it can record full HD footage, otherwise, it would not be featured in this section. Other than that, it’s noteworthy to say a thing or two about the mount. While it might seem like a cheap ass mounting bracket, it’s actually far from that. Not only does it work with a precise locking mechanism but it also incorporates 4 dampening balls. Needless to say, this ensures smooth footage and no jello whatsoever.

The original JJRC H37 Elfie a mere VGA camera that is not really that good when it comes to shooting decent aerial selfies. However, this new cheap selfie drone Baby Elfie fixes that with a 720p-ready sensor which does its work with better marks. However, there is no software or hardware stabilization so some vibrations are bound to happen. That’s the case with all other toy-grade drones so there’s no point deducted because of it. All in all, JJRC H37 Baby Elfie seems like a solid model. As such, I believe it is definitely worth dropping a look especially for beginners who never touched a drone in their life.

In our time with Dobby, Zerotech tried to show us everything it could do. This includes voice enabled control (call it’s name, it’ll take off). You can also set Dobby to take off from, and land onto your palm. It’s not exactly the throw launched promised (but as yet undelivered) by Lily, but moving your hand upwards will see the drone take flight. Be careful of your fingers though, as Dobby nipped a pinkie from our demonstrator at one point.

Well, even though drones are technically allowed to use in public places, there are still some remarks on how to use them. Most importantly, you need to know that you must not fly them in highly congested areas. Also, you are not allowed to fly them anywhere near other people in public areas. Anywhere near means roughly 20-30 meters (above doesn’t count, only away), otherwise, you will be breaking the law. With all that taken into account, I strongly suggest going to parks during the early morning or past the peak visit times when there aren’t many people around.

The drone chasing me, the R1, was created by a start-up called Skydio; it sells for $2,499 and will begin shipping to customers in two to three weeks, the company says. It is the closest thing to a fully autonomous drone you can buy today.

Watch this clip, recorded by the R1’s main camera, showing the drone following Mr. Bry. When he runs, it immediately follows him, ducking behind trees, speeding up to catch him, then slowing when he slows. Much of the rest of the clip goes like that; every step he takes, the R1 is watching him. [redirect url=’’ sec=’0′]
